About the Artist

Painting is an endeavor to create beauty for Jenny. A native North Carolinian, she has always been inspired by the natural world.   The mountains, the sea and the Piedmont regions have provided a powerful sense of wonder and beauty throughout the artist’s life.

Through painting, Jenny attempts an understanding of the radiance, color, shadow and texture that surround each of us. Whether she is captivated by majestic trees or misty mountains, it is the process of describing it on the canvas that truly fascinates her. As Jenny  interprets what she sees through the layers of paint, she understands and views the world differently.

There exists a feeling of expansiveness for Jenny in nature. The expression of a horizon or a woodland path offers that same openness and sense of possibility for the viewer to move off the canvas and into their own world.

Jenny began painting with Andy Braitman of Braitman Studios in 2003.   She has also attended a color workshop with Cape Cod artists Cedric and Joanette Egeli  and attended a plein air workshop in Brantome, France with Connie Winters in the fall of 2007. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jenny lives in Charlotte NC with her husband Bill and their three sons.
